My Little Canis by Feyala

This is a long time in coming. I actually started this for Xmas the year before last, I was planning on doing MLPs of all of my friends. Things went sour in Montana and I moved to New Hampshire to stay with Canis for awhile and it still didn't get done, and then I moved here, and now have finally finished it.

Anyways, my little pony, sculpey horn and tail, nylon mlp hair, some sort of artificial yarn fibers for the tail, painted in acrylics. For ecmajor, because he's awesome like that.

Medium: my little pony, super sculpey, acrylics
Tags: pony MLP Custom Canis mylittlepony ecmajor
Couger Magnet by Feyala

THE COLORS DUKE! THE COLORS!

Yeah, this came out a bit more stoned looking than I intended, due to the bug eyes and large pupils. I think it's cute though. Belated Xmas present for Couger <3

Sculpey firm over a small ball of tinfoil, about an inch across. Glazed with shiny sculpey glaze over the eyes and matte varnish over the rest (not shown due to glare it would produce). Magnet glued on back.

Medium: Sculpey, acrylics
Tags: cougar sculpture sculpey couger magnet
Dragon's Treasure by Feyala

I discovered that a local music shop was putting on an art show and wanted people to submit art that was oriented around the theme of family. "Aha!" I thought, "This is a great way for me to get local exposure!" So I decided to do a sculpture. Hours and hours later, and two sleep-deprived days as I frantically tried to finish it, this was the result. I'm extremely proud of how it came out, although what flaws there are still glare out at me, there are far fewer of them than usual.

Airbrush is my friend. <3

This piece ended up being mentioned in a local free newspaper which was pretty cool. First time seeing my name in print for art! Woo!

I will try to get better photos of this when I have a better camera.

Sculpey Firm over foil and wire armature, with acetate and apoxie sculpt wings, airbrushed and detail painted with lovely metallic cheapo acrylics and sealed with varnish.

Medium: Sculpey, acetate, apoxie sculpt, acrylics
Tags: dragon hatchling sculpture family sculpey
Laughing Coyote by Feyala

I like coyotes (both the animal and the mythical figure) so I decided to sculpt myself up a cute little pendent of one. It was an exercise in stylization, I think I succeeded pretty well.

Hopefully it will help remind me to take life less seriously. n.n

Twilight by Feyala

From the DA description:
I've always considered twilight to be a magical time, on the border between daylight and darkness.

This is a new character of mine. I'll come up with a better name for the species later, but for now, I am calling her a "treecelot". Basically she's a feline dryad sort of creature, part plant, part ocelot. She's a shapeshifter, but she always has some aspects of both ocelot and plant. This is her dominant form. I'll probably draw her as an anthro later.

So, inspired by Pan's Labyrinth, which is an awesome movie and everyone should see it. Also luna moths are full of win. Background in Painter 9, treecelot and moth in photoshop.

Medium: Painter IX and Photoshop CS2
Tags: digital dryad treecelot lunamoth
Dragon Sculpture by Feyala

This was a project in high school to illustrate a 2d piece in 3d. I chose this image. It didn't come out perfectly but other people have asked if that is what it was based on without me telling them, so the resemblance must be there.

The wing fell off in the kiln and it remained unfinished until a few years later when I was back at my parents' and figured out that some JB weld would probably fix it right up, and it did. I'm pleased with how this came out and it is one of my more popular images on DA, even though I know that my sculptural skills have improved dramatically since then.

Medium: Ceramic painted with acrylics
Tags: dragon sculpture ceramic
Gimpy the Fox by Feyala

Old sculpture done in soapstone with a dremel, circa 2004. I apologize for the bad photos. I'll need to get better ones when I next visit my parents.

From the DA description: The name came around because originally, gimpy had feet and arms that protruded. The arm on the ground had a paw, the back leg had a foot, and the hind front paw (You can see it in relief in the picture where gimpy's facing left) used to be extended out like gimpy was in the middle of a turn. However, due to the fragile nature of soapstone, all these limbs broke off and I had to refigure the design. Gimpy's a pretty black soapstone with a vein of some harder white rock (quartz?) over the eye.

Medium: soapstone
Tags: fox sculpture soapstone
